Currently we have a heavy, 32 inch one with a big picture tube – weighs about 7 0 pounds. Best answer: Answer by DavidNot at all – it will not be too hot. Today’s LCD/plasma tv’s use much less energy than older (CRT) models, actually. Much less energy equals much less heat. So you’re fine. If someone is really, REALLY concerned about it, you can check to see if the new tv is “energy-star” certified- basically, that it is a very energy-efficient device with the little power that it does consume.
