Currently we have a heavy, 32 inch one with a big picture tube – weighs about 7 0 pounds. Best answer: Answer by DavidNot at all – it will not be too hot. Today’s LCD/plasma tv’s use much less energy than older (CRT) models, actually. Much less energy equals much less heat. So you’re fine. If someone is really, REALLY concerned about it, you can check to see if the new tv is “energy-star” certified- basically, that it is a very energy-efficient device with the little power that it does consume. I want it to have the 50″ TV mounted or anchored in such a way so it can’t be knocked off or tipped over by my rambunctious son. Best answer: Answer by Rod PIf you want High Definition, but don’t want to spend the Big Bucks, look for a 720p -capable unit. 720p is “officially” HD, but its not the much ballyhooed (isn’t that a great old word, “ballyhooed”?) 1080p, therefore the 720p projectors will be much less expensive and still give you GREAT results, especially if your intended projected image size is not going to be that big (80″ diag 16:9 will make an awesome 720p size, by the way). We just bought an armoire for my daughters room to put her tv in, but we didn’t realize how low the tv sat. Now my son can reach it and press the buttons.
